Our standard

Four commitments we hold ourselves to.

They apply to every reader, every readout, every briefing and every plan. If we fall short of one, you are owed an explanation.

01

We take no commissions or referral fees from anyone.

Lawyers, accountants, banks, insurers, estate agents and visa firms do not pay us, in money or in kind, to send you their way.

The professionals you hire bill you directly, and their fees never pass through us. When we tell you what kind of professional your situation needs, it is because your situation needs one.

02

Our advice assumes every rule is enforced and every fact is known.

We do not plan around what a tax authority might miss or what a consulate might not check. Americans are taxed on worldwide income, banks abroad report American account holders to the IRS, and days of residence are counted.

A plan that only works if nobody looks is not a plan. Every position we lay out has to hold up in full view.

03

We lay out the tradeoffs, including the case for staying.

Every readout, briefing and plan sets what going would cost against what staying would cost. Staying gets a fair hearing. For some households it is the right answer, and for many the honest answer is not yet.

We do not hand down verdicts. The decision is yours, made with the whole picture in front of you.

04

We state the full cost before you spend anything.

Our fees are published: $30,000 for a plan, and $60,000 to run its execution, in three stages, each paid in advance. You can stop after any stage.

Outside lawyers, accountants and other professionals bill you directly, and what they cost depends on the country. All of that comes on top of housing, visa fees and the move itself. You see the whole number before you commit to any of it.

The first step costs nothing and takes no call.

The readout lays out where your situation stands and which step fits it.
